本实验室及依托学科与国外大学，如美国University of Rhode Island, University of Florida, University of South Alabama, University of Delaware, Clarkson University；加拿大 Queen’s University；丹麦 Technical University of Denmark；韩国Cheju National University、Korea Maritime University, Mokpo Marine University, Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute；日本京都大学等进行定期和不定期学术交流。 2006年以来邀请30位以上国际与国内港口海岸及近海工程领域的知名学者来本学科进行学术交流及国际合作课题的研究；每年参加OMAE、ISOPE、EAWOMEN等国际会议10-15人次，宣读学术论文；与国外知名高校进行学生互换，交流培养研究生8名。 每年派出教师到国外或国内著名大学做访问学者、参加培训或做博士后研究。 举办本学科领域的全国性学术研讨会，加强与同行之间的学术交流及人员互访，优势互补，争取更多的合作机会。 举办的国内外主要学术交流活动如下：
